Job description

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner

The Hospital at Home Teams within Fife provide a service for the frail elderly population (predominantly over 65yrs), which prevents acute hospital admission or facilitates earlier discharge where acute hospital admission has taken place. It allows people to have a period of “acute” medical care within their own home, which will in turn allow the person to recover from a period of illness without needing hospital admission.

The successful Nurse Practitioner will be required to deliver a high standard of safe and effective acute medical patient care within patient’s homes and must have the ability to work autonomously in this evolving service. You should ideally have a clinical decision making qualification at degree level or above. This should include the ability to work autonomously as a Nurse Practitioner as well as having clinical skills including venepuncture, ECG, IV additives and cannulation. A non-medical prescribing qualification would be desirable but not essential; however, it would be a requirement to undertake this in the future.

Individuals who meet the full requirements for Nurse Practitioner will commence on Band 6. Those applicants who are interested in developing in to the role following the successful completion of academic qualifications will commence on Band 5 in line with Annex 21(pay and banding of trainees). On successful completion of this programme you will be transferred to Band 6.

You will have good communication skills, be proactive in your own development and have a flexible attitude to work. The ability to travel within the area in a timely manner is essential.

This post involves flexibility to work over a 7 day period, working shifts covering the period from 08.00 – 22.00 On appointment the successful candidates will be based at Adamson Hospital Cupar. Cross team working is an expectation of the role.
