Job summary

Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway is recruiting two Staff Nurses (Endoscopy) to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. The roles involve delivering high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopy and related procedures, with a focus on safety and patient experience.

Ideal candidates are RGNs registered with NMBI, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a flexible approach to shift patterns as duties include day rotations.

Responsibilities

• Carries out nursing care and treatments to a high standard according to Policies/Procedures.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care using the nursing process and maintain records.
• Implement discharge planning based on patient care needs.
• Administer medicines, IV drugs, blood products and controlled drugs per policy.
• Record and monitor patients post administration and report adverse events or errors.
• Adhere to infection control guidelines and collaborate with Infection Control Nurse.
• Handle and dispose of medical waste per hospital policy.

Job Purpose

Staff nurses (Endoscopy) are responsible for providing a high standard of nursing care to patients, the application of the nursing process and the scientific knowledge, judgement and technical skills of professional nursing in delivering care to patient population of paediatric through to the elderly

Ideal Candidate

Ability to work as part of a team providing a quality service Personally, and professionally accountable for patient care. RGN qualification and NMBI registration. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Flexible approach to work patterns as the post holder will be required to rotate between days. Desirable previous nursing experience working in Endoscopy/Flexible Cystoscopy procedures.

Essential Qualifications

• Be registered, or be eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI]
• Have nursing experience post-registration preferably in surgical areas.

Experience & Responsibility

• Carries out nursing care and treatments to the highest possible standard according to agreed Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.
• Participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care based on the nursing process approach and maintains appropriate records.
• Implements discharge planning based on patient care needs.
• Administer medicines, IV drugs, /blood products and controlled drugs according to agreed policies.
• Records and monitors patients post administration according to policy and reports any adverse events or medication errors.
• Adheres to Best Practice Guidelines in controlling infection and reports/manage infections as dictated by policy and work closely with Infection Control Nurse.
• Handles and correctly disposes of medical waste as per hospital policy.
