Job summary

Toast seeks a Staff Infrastructure Engineer on the Compute & Storage Platform team to design, build, and operate foundational distributed systems powering the Toast platform as the company expands internationally.

You will bridge core infrastructure with product development, building low-latency state and storage systems and scalable compute clusters to support Toast’s PDLC across multiple markets and devices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS using Infrastructure as Code
• Deep experience with databases at scale (Relational and Non-relational)
• Strong understanding of SRE principles, monitoring, and performance troubleshooting in high-traffic environments

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate foundational distributed systems powering the Toast platform
• Bridge core infrastructure with product development, enabling low-latency state and storage systems
• Ensure sub-second end-user latency and near-zero-downtime reliability across storage engines
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and compute pipelines on AWS using IaC
