Job summary

Cadence is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer in Ireland to design, build and maintain automation frameworks and virtualization platforms underpinning Cadence's global engineering environment. You’ll work hands-on across IaC, CI/CD pipelines, and hybrid cloud to improve reliability and security for on‑prem and cloud workloads.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Platform Engineering, Security and Cloud Architecture, and contribute to architecture discussions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 5–8 years infra engineering with automation focus.
• Expert Terraform for multi-environment deployments.
• Proficient in Python and Bash scripting.
• Experience with virtualization platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and GitOps workflows.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain IaC solutions with Terraform and Ansible.
• Write Python and Bash automation scripts.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions.
• Administer Nutanix, KVM, and VMware vSphere.
• Support hybrid cloud with AWS/Azure.
• Contribute to architecture decisions on automation and cloud integration.
• Monitor health with Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog.
• Develop documentation and runbooks.
• Participate in security reviews and policy-as-code.
• Mentor junior engineers through pair programming.
