Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is recruiting a Staff Data Engineer in the Ireland/Cork region to build a modern data foundation powering digital products across the Orthopaedics Supply Chain.

You will design lakehouse architectures on Databricks and AWS, delivering governed data products for analytics, reporting, AI, and operational decisions. Expect collaboration with product owners, data teams, ML groups and partners to drive scalable data solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum four (4) years of relevant professional work experience.
• Experience in data engineering, data architecture, or platform engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience across Databricks, Apache Spark, PySpark, Spark SQL, Python, SQL, and Delta Lake.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for modernizing the enterprise data ecosystem through lakehouse architecture and cloud platform capabilities.
• Design complex data pipelines, integration patterns using Databricks and AWS.
• Turn business requirements into architecture decisions, implementation plans, and reusable patterns.
• Develop blueprints for batch, streaming, and event-driven pipelines supporting analytics, BI, AI/ML.
• Partner with Product Owners and IT to align delivery with measurable outcomes.
• Lead architecture discussions ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Coordinate contractors and vendors, review deliverables, and provide direction.
