Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead the data foundation for the Orthopaedics Supply Chain. You will design lakehouse architecture on Databricks and AWS, delivering governed, reusable data products for analytics, reporting, AI, and operational decision making.

You will collaborate with Product Owners, data engineers, ML teams, and external partners to translate business problems into scalable technical solutions and executable plans, while advancing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field (CS/Engineering/Math/IS).
• Minimum four years of relevant professional work experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, PySpark, Spark SQL, Python, SQL, and Delta Lake.
• Extensive AWS cloud data services experience; Azure desirable.
• Proficiency with BI platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Experience coordinating distributed engineering teams and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for data foundation modernization using lakehouse architecture.
• Design data pipelines and architectures with Databricks, AWS, Python, SQL, Spark, and Delta Lake.
• Translate business needs into architecture decisions and actionable delivery plans.
• Develop batch, streaming, and event-driven pipelines for analytics and AI use cases.
• Collaborate with product owners, data governance, and IT to meet measurable outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and conduct architecture reviews; no direct people management.
• Contribute to governance, standards, and operating-model practices.
