Job summary

Gong is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and development of scalable backend services and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with product and R&D teams to deliver high-impact solutions.

You will join a cross-functional team operating in a flexible hybrid model with 3 days in the office, working on large-scale SaaS applications for enterprise customers and shaping the next generation

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend software development experience, with strong Java/Spring Boot foundation.
• 4+ years as staff/principal engineer, leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Proven experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.
• Extensive experience developing and maintaining large-scale, cloud-based web applications.
• Creative problem-solving mindset and passion for researching technologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• Excellent communication skills and team-oriented mindset; fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers, guiding best practices and architecture.
• Drive architectural vision and strategy for complex systems, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Explore and integrate new technologies, APIs, and methodologies, including AI/ML capabilities.
• Collaborate with Product, GTM, and R&D teams to develop tailored solutions.
• Be part of a high-impact, cross-product team delivering for high-profile customers.
