Job summary

Gong is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to shape scalable backend systems and lead cross-functional tech initiatives. You will design APIs and cloud-based services, mentor engineers, and guide architectural decisions across multiple product areas.

You will collaborate with Product, GTM, and R&D teams to deliver high-impact solutions, exploring new technologies, including AI/ML, and contributing to a culture of ownership and impact.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend software development with Java and Spring Boot.
• 4+ years as staff/principal engineer, leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.
• Extensive experience with large-scale cloud-based web applications.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and passion for technology research.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• Excellent communication and a team-oriented mindset; fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers; set architectural direction.
• Drive architectural vision and strategy for complex systems ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Explore and integrate new technologies, APIs, and methodologies, including AI/ML capabilities.
• Collaborate with Product, GTM, and R&D teams and with external stakeholders to deliver tailored solutions.
• Be part of a special forces team addressing high-profile customer needs and rapidly switch between stacks.
