Johnson & Johnson MedTech in Limerick is recruiting a Staff Automation Engineer to join our fast-moving, highly regulated manufacturing environment. You will develop and support high-speed automation across PLC, Safety PLC, robot control, and SCADA systems to sustain continuous improvement and product quality.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of hands-on automation experience in a regulated setting. Competitive base pay, benefits, and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience with PLC, Safety PLC, robot control, electrical systems, servo motion and SCADA.
  • Experience in a high-volume, regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support automation control systems in a highly automated manufacturing plant.
  • Design, install and validate automated solutions for new or retrofit equipment.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and deliver improvements to quality, performance and delivery.
  • Develop validation documents to support the automation development process.

Position Summary

Development and technical support for high speed automated machines across the entire range of automation disciplines, including PLC and Safety PLC systems, Vision Systems, Robot control, Electrical systems, Servo Motion, SCADA and complex device integration. Develop Functional and Detailed Design Specifications from User Requirement Specifications. Develop high quality PLC and SCADA solutions from Functional and Detailed Design Specification. Commission and Validate PLC and control software as part of a highly automated, high volume 24/7 regulated production environment. Fault-find complex automation equipment. Work within a cross functional multi-discipline team environment supporting operations quality safety and other engineering functions to support production and deliver improvements in quality performance and product pipeline delivery. Participates within project teams, provide technical support and make informed decisions on hardware and architecture selection. Provide support to operations and other functions for automation related issues on the production lines. Develop and maintain comprehensive change management and quality control documentation to Medical Device standards. Prioritize multiple tasks while working to tight schedules.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for development, installation, validation and support of the automation control systems within a highly automated validated manufacturing plant.
  • Provide secure scalable and sustainable solutions to enhance safety quality or throughput for legacy production systems
  • Design install and validate automated solutions for new or retrofit equipment
  • Participates on or lead project teams as part of a cross functional team to deliver projects
  • Provide technical support as subject matter expert as necessary for complex problem resolution
  • Works with manager / team lead to develop and implement strategic engineering Goals & Objectives.
  • Actively adopt and promote a strong Credo based code of conduct prominent at Johnson & Johnson.
  • Develop validation documents to support the automation development process
  • Operate in conformance to site quality and health and safety standards at all times.
  • Support the implementation of all engineering and plant strategic initiatives
May Be Required To
  • Monitor project plans and schedules to ensure deliverables are on time and within budget.
  • Identify and manage internal and external resources to support assigned projects.
  • Monitor and analyze opportunities for the development of new or improved tools for process improvement activities.
  • Provide technical expertise as a subject matter expert.
  • Provide moderately complex technical consultation and leadership to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide training and mentoring to less experienced staff.
  • Identify and lead cost and technical improvements to deliver continuous improvement across the site.
Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.

5 plus years of similar experience including including PLC and Safety PLC systems, Robot control, Electrical systems, Servo Motion, SCADA and complex device integration

The Anticipated Base Pay Range For This Position Is

€63,300.00 - €101,315.00
