Job summary

  • Familiarity with semiconductor device physics or ATE/electrical test environments is an advantage but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support project work on high-reliability screening operations, including HTRB, burn-in, and electrical test/screening methodologies.
  • Partner with site engineers on equipment appraisal and qualification initiatives, driving process standardization, quality improvement, and EHS enhancements.
  • Develop deep knowledge of products, processes, and test equipment to provide technical direction on product disposition through screening and sampling steps.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry test methods, standards, and customer source-control requirements.

Job Description
Position Summary

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be a key member of the site engineering team, responsible for ensuring that our high-reliability discrete semiconductor products meet stringent customer, industry, and regulatory requirements. You will own product and process definition through part requirement analysis and test flow selection, ensuring products are correctly processed through electrical screening and sampling operations in accordance with applicable military, aerospace, and internal specification test methods.

You will develop and maintain robust process controls, drive automation initiatives, and contribute to continuous improvement in yield, quality, throughput, and cost of ownership.

The Manufacturing Engineering team in Ennis comprises two disciplines: electrical and mechanical. This position focuses on electrical engineering support for the site, including back-end test and reliability screening operations.

Working Pattern

This is a shift-based position covering the weekend cycle. The successful candidate will work Thursday to Monday, 08:00 – 16:30, with Tuesday and Wednesday as rest days. This pattern provides dedicated engineering support to weekend manufacturing operations and offers a consistent, fixed schedule.

Role Focus
  • Lead and support project work on high-reliability screening operations, including High Temperature Reverse Bias (HTRB), burn-in, and electrical test/screening methodologies.
  • Partner with site engineers on equipment appraisal and qualification initiatives, driving process standardization, quality improvement, and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) enhancements.
  • Develop deep knowledge of products, processes, and test equipment to provide technical direction on product disposition through screening and sampling process steps.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry test methods, standards, and customer source‑control requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Apply reliability engineering theory and principles (e.g., failure mechanisms, acceleration models, screening effectiveness) to Microchip products and manufacturing processes.
  • Drive data analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and root cause / corrective action (RCCA) activities to resolve yield, quality, and equipment issues and to sustain continuous improvement.
  • Originate and develop technical solutions, process advancements, and automation initiatives that strengthen Microchip's position as an industry leader in high-reliability discrete semiconductors.
  • Create and maintain process and product documentation, including test flows, specifications, and associated process controls.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (Level 8) in Engineering or Physics; Electronic/Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement and quality methodologies — Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, DOE, DMAIC, FMEA, SPC — is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor device physics, discrete power devices (e.g., diodes and bipolar transistors), or ATE/electrical test environments is an advantage but not essential.
