Job summary

HSE Primary Care in Dublin West seeks a Speech & Language Therapist to provide assessment and intervention for adults with communication and swallowing disorders across community, primary care, rehabilitation and residential settings. Lead, supervise staff, and contribute to service development while maintaining high standards and CPD.

Qualifications

• Qualified Speech & Language Therapist with CORU registration.
• Current CORU registration or eligibility to register.
• Clinical experience including adults with complex communication and swallowing disorders.
• Ability to supervise junior staff, students and therapy assistants.

Responsibilities

• Provide dysphagia management plans per national guidelines.
• Maintain confidential, accurate clinical records per GDPR and policies.
• Participate in case conferences and MDT meetings.
• Act as a clinical specialist resource within adult services.
• Supervise Basic Grade SLTs, therapy assistants and students.
• Contribute to service planning, quality improvement and audits.
• Support evidence-based practice and clinical governance.

Speech & Language Therapist – Adults (HSE Primary Care) – Dublin West

The Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) will provide high-quality, evidence-based assessment and intervention services to adults presenting with communication and/or swallowing disorders. The post-holder will manage a defined adult caseload within community, primary care, rehabilitation, and/or residential settings across West Dublin to include Ballyfermot, Lucan and Clondalkin.

The SLT will demonstrate clinical leadership, supervise junior staff and students, and contribute to service development in line with best practice standards and national policy.

Responsibilities of Speech & Language Therapist – Adults

• Provide dysphagia management plans in line with national clinical guidelines.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date clinical records in accordance with GDPR and HSE policies.
• Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Act as a clinical specialist resource within adult services.
• Supervise and support Basic Grade SLTs, therapy assistants, and students.
• Contribute to service planning, quality improvement, and audit activities.
• Support implementation of evidence-based practice and clinical governance standards.
• Adhere to professional standards set by IASLT.
• Engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• Participate in clinical supervision structures.

Requirements for Speech & Language Therapist – Adults

• Recognised qualification in Speech & Language Therapy approved for CORU registration.
• Current registration (or eligibility for registration) with CORU.
• Clinical experience (including adult caseload).
• Demonstrated experience managing adults with complex communication and swallowing disorders.
