Responsibilities

• Provide SLT service to the rehabilitation wards in St. Marys Hospital & Phoenix Park Community Nursing Units.
• Assess, diagnose and provide interventions for communication and eating, drinking and swallowing disorders.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team including with families to support service users.
• Provide ongoing training to other healthcare colleagues across the hospital campus.
• Support decision-making and capacity assessments for patients with communication difficulties.

Job description

Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist required, in partnership with the HSE, for opportunity to work as part of the Speech and Language Therapy Team and the wider Health and Social Care Professionals providing rehabilitation to older persons in St. Marys Hospital, Phoenix Park, Dublin 20. There are currently 101 beds in this service. There is onsite SLT Manager, 1 Clinical Specialist SLT, 2.5 Seniors and 3 staff grade SLTs with regular professional supervision, frequent team meetings and a strong focus on continuous professional development for all staff within the team.

Job Responsibilities

Provide SLT service to the rehabilitation wards in St. Marys Hospital & Phoenix Park Community Nursing Units.

Assess, diagnose and provide a broad range of interventions and supports to people with a variety of disorders and /or concerns regarding communication and eating, drinking and swallowing (EDS).

Work as part of the multidisciplinary team including with families to support our service users.

Provide ongoing training as required to other healthcare colleagues working across the hospital campus.

Support the decision-making process and capacity assessments of patients and residents who have communication difficulties across the hospital campus.

Comply with local service and professional standards in relation to record keeping and other aspects of the professional SLT role.

The Candidate

• A recognised qualification as a Speech and Language Therapist with CORU registration
