Job summary

Astute is recruiting a Solar O&M Technician for its Renewables operations in Ireland. You will perform operations and maintenance across a portfolio of solar sites, ensuring maximum performance and compliance with HSE requirements.

Reporting to the Area Manager, you will test DC/AC systems, update firmware, gain Authorised Person status after training, and support occasional ground tasks. A starting salary of up to €50,000 plus company van, fuel card, and on-call payments.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 electrical installations as a minimum.
• 18th edition wiring regs required.
• C&G 2391 or equivalent preferred.
• HSE qualification is desirable.
• Experience in solar or BESS environment highly preferred.
• Irish driving licence essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the best performance of large-scale solar assets.
• Perform operations and maintenance duties across Ireland’s solar sites.
• Adhere to all HSE requirements.
• Test DC and AC systems and trace faults.
• Update firmware and use systems to diagnose asset issues.
• Gain Authorised Person status after training.
• Conduct regular inspection, maintenance and testing of systems.
• Analyze data to identify trends and propose improvements.
• Assist with occasional cleaning, ground maintenance and CCTV tasks.
• Be flexible to travel outside your patch as needed.

Job description

Astute's Renewables team is partnering with a leading renewable energy provider with a strong commitment to sustainability, professional development and its people, to recruit a Solar O&M Technician for its operations.

The Solar O&M Technician role comes with a salary of up to €50,000, plus van, fuel card and door to door payments, plus the opportunity for overtime.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Area Manager you will:

• Ensure the best performance of large-scale solar assets
• Perform operations and maintenance duties across the portfolio of solar sites across Ireland.
• Ensure adherence to all HSE requirements when completing your duties
• Test both DC and AC systems, looking for faults and tracing issues
• Conduct firmware updates and use computer systems to look for issues with the assets
• Gain Authorised Person status after received training
• Consistent inspection, maintenance and testing of the systems
• Looking for trends and using data analysis to see if you can spot any common trends and suggest ways to improve operations as a result
• Occasional assistance with tasks such as solar panel cleaning, some ground maintenance and site CCTV
• Occasional working way from your patch/area and be flexible to help when the business needs

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Level 3 in electrical installations as a minimum
• 18th edition wiring regs
• Ideally you will have C&G 2391 or equivalent
• A HSE qualification is desired
• Experience within a solar or BESS environment is hugely preferred
• Irish driving licence is essential

Personal skills

The Solar O&M Technician role would suit someone who is:

• Flexible with location and in travelling outside of your patch on occasion
• Experience liaising with third parties and troubleshooting
• Experience reading, writing and assessing RAMS is hugely beneficial
• Someone who wants to learn and make a genuine difference
