Job summary

Activ8 Solar Energies is Ireland's leading solar and renewable energy company and is seeking a safety‑conscious Solar Operations & Maintenance Service Engineer to join the Commercial O&M team. This full‑time role combines office‑based work from our Carrickmacross HQ and Dublin offices with remote home working and site attendance across Ireland.

Qualifications

• Electrical and PV O&M experience preferable.
• Full Clean Driver’s Licence required.
• Qualified Electrician with N.C.C. or equivalent.
• Experience with HV/LV and SCADA systems helpful.
• Awareness of RAMS, CDM and safety standards.
• Drone license and willingness to work at height.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring platforms and SCADA performance reporting.
• Carry out planned maintenance per O&M schedules and OEM specs.
• Manage and perform corrective maintenance on PV systems and components.
• Troubleshoot electrical and monitoring faults to minimise downtime.
• Respond to callouts, faults, breakdowns and maintenance requests.
• Conduct electrical testing and inspections where needed.
• Maintain service records, RAMS, reports and logs.
• Collaborate with subcontractors and Activ8 employees on tasks.

The Opportunity

Weare seeking an experienced Operations & Maintenance Service Engineer with a strong electrical background and proven solarO&Mexperience to support the operation and maintenance ofour extensive C&I solar portfolio. This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring regular travel and time away from home to ensure optimal performance, availability, and safety ofoursolar assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining solar Monitoring platforms / Scada systems and assisting in creating performance reporting.
• Assist in carrying out planned maintenance activities in line with O&M schedules and OEM requirements
• Manage (and from time to time andcorrectivemaintenance on solar PV systems, includingpanels, inverters,switchgear, combiner boxes, and monitoring systemsand all associated parts not itemised not exclusive to Ground mount and Rooftop installations
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical& monitoringfaults to minimise downtime and restore system performanceand efficiency
• Respond where needed to reactivecalloutsand fault alarms, including breakdowns and system failures
• Where applicable conduct electrical testing and inspection (e.g. IV curve tracing, insulation resistance, thermal imaging etc)
• Manage warranty claims and activities asrequired
• Maintain and uphold Activ8 Energieshigh standardsfor Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE)andensure all work is carried out in compliance withregulation, method statements, and risk assessments, this includes updating dynamic RAMS where applicable
• Maintainaccurateservice reports, maintenance records, and fault logs
• Ensure all requiredservicedocumentation is issued accurately and on time.
• Must be willing to work away from home due to the locations of theasset or issue, if there is any doubt at all please do not apply.
• Manage anyadditionalSub-Contractors/ Activ8employeesthatare required tocomplete the task at hand.

Qualifications & Key Skills

• ElectricalandSolar PVO&Mexperienceis preferable.
• Full Clean Driver’s Licence.
• Qualified Electrician (National Craft Certificate or equivalent)
• Minimum 3 years ‘experience in electrical installation, maintenance or renewable energy.
• Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems.
• IPAF/ Harness trainingisessential or awillingness to carry out along with working at height. - Training will be given
• Strong understanding of HV, LV and Scada systems.
• Knowledge of Huawei,Sungrowor SMA inverter systems desirable.
• Experience with CDM regulations and the ability to dynamically amend RAMSis preferred but not essential as training will be given
• Drone Licenseor awillingnessto complete
• Experience with utility-scale solar assets, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or EV charging infrastructure desirable.
• High levelof accuracy inreportingdocumentation,Organisation, timemanagementandself-motivation.
• Experience in a fast-paced environment involving problem-solvingand communicating with your line manager &manufacturer service helplines
• Excellent written, IT, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
