Job summary

Qualifications

• A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software engineering or related field.
• 6 to 9 years of experience with designing and building front-end and webservice applications while incorporating test automation frameworks.
• Working experience with: Ruby (or Java); Cucumber; Javascript; HTTP; RESTful web services; Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Influence better software design by applying testing and testability knowledge; promote proper software engineering and bug prevention strategies.
• Write and maintain application features and automated tests including unit, component, integration, functional, performance, scenario and interoperability tests.
• Design reliable, portable, accurate and trustworthy tests and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with teammates to improve test coverage, release velocity and production health.
• Develop automation harnesses using Ruby or Java with Cucumber and SOA Test.
• Participate in code and test code reviews with the Scrum team.
• Develop using Javascript/Angular and Webservices/HTTP.

We're partnering with a large US financial services company to source a Software Engineer in Test to join them on a contract basis.

As a Software Engineer in Test (SDET) you will be applying your strong software development and test automation skills to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve customer-facing software solutions.

You will also be enabling your team in adopting test automation frameworks and best practices to ensure the team are building the right product the right way.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Obsessed with creating the best end-to-end customer experience;
• Owns the outcome by taking personal accountability for delivering strong results;
• Experience designing and building applications and using test automation frameworks;
• Multi-stack engineer with knowledge in a breadth of technologies and test automation frameworks (Ruby or Java, Cucumber, Javascript/Angular, HTTP, RESTful web services);
• Extensive experience working with Java and its ecosystem;
• Passionate about Test Driven Development, developing robust software, writing testable and maintainable code; Self-directed, willing to take initiative, pragmatic and results-oriented;
• Has keen attention to detail and wants to solve really hard problems, not just detect them;
• Able to learn large software systems end-to-end quickly;
• Keenly interested in learning new technologies and their adoption;
• Able to work with remote and international team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Use your knowledge of testing and testability to influence better software design, promote proper software engineering and bug prevention strategies, testability and security;
• Actively participate in the development process through writing and maintain application features and automated tests including unit tests, component tests, integration tests, functional tests, performance tests, scenario tests and interoperability tests;
• Support the team in designing reliable, portable, accurate and trustworthy tests, and in integrating them into CI/CD pipelines;
• Collaborate with team members on improving team's test coverage, release velocity and production health;
• Enable the team in designing and developing automation harnesses using Ruby or Java w/ Cucumber and SOA Test;
• Participate in application code and test code reviews with rest of the Scrum team;
• Participate in development using Javascript/Angular and Webservices/HTTP.

Qualifications:

Preferred Experience:

• AngularJS (2 or above); NodeJS; Docker; Genesys Contact Center Platform; Working experience with test automation frameworks (Cucumber w/ Ruby, SOATest, Selenium);
• Hands-on experience with creating and using Test Doubles and Virtual Assets; Knowledge of software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations; Experience in delivering software in the Agile environment. .
