Job summary

Nexthop AI in Ireland is seeking a highly capable software engineer to join our AI infrastructure startup building scalable systems. You will participate across design, implementation, testing and peer review to deliver core platforms.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in software engineering, a Bachelor’s in CS/SE/EE, proficiency in Python, C, C++ or Rust, and familiarity with Docker and distributed systems. Strong collaboration and ownership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
• Proficiency in Python, C, C++ or Rust.
• Solid understanding of systems software, including embedded systems and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with container technologies and databases is a plus.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Ownership of your project(s) and willingness to take initiative.
• Familiarity with SONiC, FBOSS, EOS, Cisco IOS, JunOS etc a bonus.
• Work authorization for Ireland (Irish/EEA/UK passport, Stamp 4 etc)

Responsibilities

• Participate in all parts of software engineering, from design and implementation to testing and peer review.
• Collaborate with engineers on building and optimizing core systems.
• Support customers during development through project scoping, POC, early trials and production/escalation support.
• Be part of shaping the startup—define culture, challenge processes and help determine the future of the company.
