Job summary

Clio is seeking a Software Development Manager to join our Engineering team. You will influence and grow your people, drive strong execution as part of a triad with Design and Product, and build solid technical solutions.

The role blends leadership with hands-on coding, reviews, and design work to deliver large-scale SaaS products. You will coach your team, participate in hiring, and help create an environment that is both technically rigorous and highly collaborative.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success in people leadership in software development, particularly with large scale SaaS products.
• Strong hands-on software development background and ability to contribute code and reviews.
• Experience with CRM products at scale.
• Willingness to participate in architecture discussions and to design technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow engineering teams, coaching and developing talent with 1:1 meetings.
• Collaborate with product and design triad to plan roadmaps and deliver high-impact features.
• Contribute as a technical leader through code reviews, architecture discussions, and hands-on coding as needed.
• Drive hiring to expand the engineering organization and build a strong team culture.
• Provide clear feedback on code and architecture to enable high-quality software decisions.

Job description

• We are currently seeking a Software Development Manager to join our Engineering team
• You will be expected to be in the office a minimum twice per week on one of our Anchor Days

• For Development Managers this means supporting and growing your people, strong execution as a team and as a triad (the teams Designer + Product + Development manager leadership group), and building solid technical solutions
• Our development managers are highly technical and hands on, often coding, designing and reviewing alongside their team
• They coach and build their teams to be both strong technically and strong team members
• They create a safe and productive environment for all Clions
• Collaborating with your triad to: understand the challenges our business faces, identify the most impactful opportunities, and craft a roadmap for the team
• Working with your team on designing the technical solutions
• Giving great feedback on code reviews, architecture documents, and more to help support team members making great technical decisions for their projects
• Actively participating as a contributor to the project, either through extensive code reviews, or shipping code
• Having a 1:1 meeting with your direct reports to make sure they are supported in their career growth and development goals
• Actively participating in hiring to grow engineering team at Clio
• Reviewing code contributed by members from your team or other Clio developers reaching out to you for your experience with a given technology or pattern
