Job summary

Social Care Worker

Location: Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan, Republic of Ireland
Salary: From €34,350 per annum
Sector: Children's Residential Care

The Role

We are seeking experienced and motivated Social Care Workers to join a residential care service supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism and associated mental health needs.

The successful candidates will have experience supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours of concern. You will be responsible for delivering safe, person‑centred care, promoting independence, dignity and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day care and support tailored to individual needs.

• Support individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism and associated mental health needs.

• Implement positive behaviour support strategies and use low‑arousal, non‑aversive approaches.

• Manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.

• Promote independence, choice, dignity, human rights and informed decision‑making.

• Maintain a safe, clean and supportive residential environment.

• Complete daily records, risk assessments, reports and incident documentation.

• Follow medication administration procedures and safeguarding policies.

• Work collaboratively with families, management and multidisciplinary teams.

• Participate in meetings, reviews and the development of individual support plans.

• Follow relevant policies, procedures and HIQA standards and regulations.

Essential Criteria

• Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within residential care, intellectual disability or autism services.

• Experience supporting individuals who present with behaviours of concern.

• IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and SharePoint.

• Full driving licence valid for use in Ireland.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience in key working and individual support planning.

• Experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities, autism or associated mental health needs.

• Experience supporting individuals with complex needs in residential or community settings.

• Knowledge of HIQA standards and regulations.
