Job summary

Autism A Chara is seeking a Social Care Worker for its residential service in Ashford, Co. Wicklow. The role involves supporting people with complex needs, implementing care plans, and promoting independence in daily living.

Applicants should have QQI Level 7 in Social Care or related degree, CORU registration (or application in progress), and a clean Irish driving licence. Shifts include evenings, weekends, and night duties; 12 hours per week minimum on offer.

Qualifications

• Must hold QQI level 7 in Social Care or equivalent with at least 6 months' experience caring for people with complex needs.
• Eligible to register with CORU as a Social Care Worker; proof or application in progress required.
• Full, clean Irish driving licence with ability to drive service vehicles.
• Availability for rota shifts including evenings, weekends and waking night duties.

• A full QQI level 7 Award in Social Care or Applied Social Care/Studies/Practice at degree level is essential

• Availability to work shifts on a rota basis including evenings and weekends and waking night duty shifts

Qualifications required for a Social Care Worker:

• A full QQI level 7 Award in Social Care or Applied Social Care/Studies/Practice at degree level is essential, (or relevant schedule 3 qualification as listed on CORUs website) with at least 6 months recent experience working as a Social Care Worker supporting people with complex needs; OR
• A relevant 3rd level qualification at degree level i.e. Social Work/Psychology with at least 2 years recent experience working as a Social Care Worker supporting people with complex needs; AND
• Proof of successful registration with CORU as a Social Care Worker
  • OR proof of application in progress with CORU.

Skills/Abilities required of a Social Care Worker:

• Proven knowledge of current legislation and regulations relating to the Social Care Sector
• Understanding of the needs and rights of individuals with autism
• Proven ability to work on own initiative
• Proven experience in the implementation and development of support/care plans and PCP’s
• Places the needs of the person supported as the key focus in all activities
• Delivers support according to the person’s PCP and care plan
• Fluent English and excellent communication skills
• Full, clean drivers licence essential with requirement to drive service vehicles
