Job summary

BAM is recruiting a Site Engineer for a civils project in County Louth, Ireland. Join one of Europe’s leading construction firms delivering large infrastructure and building projects.

You will set out works, review drawings and coordinate with foremen and subcontractors to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery. The role requires a third level Engineering qualification, proven setting-out experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• A third level qualification in Engineering.
• Proven experience in setting out or as Site Engineer.
• Experience with a main contractor or surveying firm.
• Experience managing traffic for a large scale site in a high traffic area.
• Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project, PowerPoint, etc.

Responsibilities

• Set out the works and ensure foremen and operatives clearly understand information.
• Review drawings and specifications with foremen, subcontractors and teams.
• Test materials as directed per specifications.
• Quality reviews on site for rebar and concrete placement.
• Direct subcontractors as required and prepare method statements.
• Coordinate traffic management on site and maintain site diary.
• Pursue personal development and complete the work-based development programme.

Making Possible

• Set out the works and ensure that foremen and operatives clearly understand the informationprovided.
• Review information from drawings, specifications, etc. to foremen, operatives, subcontractors, so that they clearly understand what is required.
• Test materials as directed by your supervisor/line manager in accordance with the relevantspecifications.
• Quality reviews on site with regard to rebar and concrete placement.
• Review of technical submissions prior to upload to design team to ensure that the correct areas of work are addressed.
• Directing subcontractors in some instances with regard to works to be carried out.
• Preparation of technical method statements.
• Traffic management on site, being able to coordinate works within a busy location.
• Record all daily activities, relevant information and occurrences in your site diary.
• Pursue,proactivelyyour own development and training. (i.e. complete the work-based development programme in a timely manner).
• Conduct your work in a safe manner – correct and report those who do not.
• Develop and maintain professional working relationships with all personnel.
• Monitor and check setting out instruments and testing equipment.
• Maximise profit through your day-to-day actions: good self-management, accuracy in own work, elimination of re-work.

What do you bring to the role?

• A third level qualification in Engineering
• Proven experience in setting out or working as a Site Engineer in previous roles.
• Experience working with a main contractor, subcontractor, surveying firm or similar preferred
• Experience managing traffic for a large scale site in a high traffic area
• Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations
• Excellent communication skills
• Working knowledge in Microsoft Office, Project, PowerPoint etc.
