Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Automation Engineer to join a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Dublin. This is a key role within the site's Automation/Operational Technology function, supporting highly automated GMP manufacturing processes involved in the production of API The site is a critical part of the wider manufacturing network, and the Automation Engineer will play an important role in ensuring the reliability, compliance and continuous improvement of the site's automation and control systems.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting and troubleshooting automation and control systems across the manufacturing site
  • Providing technical support for PLC, SCADA/HMI, historian and associated OT systems
  • Acting as a system owner for designated automation systems, including system administration, monitoring, backups and lifecycle management
  • Supporting automation projects, system upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Investigating automation-related issues and contributing to root cause investigations
  • Supporting change controls, deviations, CAPA and other GMP processes
  • Developing and maintaining automation documentation and technical specifications
  • Supporting validation and qualification activities for automated systems
  • Ensuring automation systems remain compliant with GMP, GAMP5 and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Working with OT infrastructure including industrial networks, communications and system connectivity
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors on technical projects and system improvements
What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with Automation or Controls Engineers who have experience working within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation, Control Systems or a related engineering discipline
  • Strong experience working with industrial automation and control systems
  • Experience within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment
  • Experience with PLC, SCADA/HMI, DCS or other process control systems
  • Experience troubleshooting complex automation and control issues
  • Understanding of GAMP5, validation and change control
  • Knowledge of industrial communication networks and OT environments
  • Experience supporting automation projects, upgrades or system implementationsStrong documentation and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
