Job summary

Our client, a major food and beverage manufacturer, is seeking an Operations Shift Manager to drive a multi-skilled team on a fast-paced site in Ballina. This 12-month fixed-term contract focuses on safety, quality and production plan execution with hands-on leadership and clear accountability.

You will lead daily and weekly production activities, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure effective communication within the Operations team while delivering on business commitments.

Qualifications

• Third level qualification, diploma or degree in a business or technical discipline required.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience in people management in a team-based environment.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working in a matrixed, ambiguous environment.
• Ability to manage multiple conflicting demands and to prioritize accordingly.
• High level of PC literacy.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead a multi-skilled Operations group in an empowered team-based environment.
• Ensure safety, quality and environmental standards are met in daily operations.
• Execute daily and weekly production plans to meet business commitments.
• Close corrective and preventive actions to avoid repeats of defects and audit non-conformances.
• Maintain high levels of communication within the Operations team through regular routines.
• Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement through lean principles and systems.
