Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a seasoned VMware Infrastructure specialist for enterprise environments across hybrid/remote engagements in Ireland. You'll design and deliver NSX solutions, lead engagements from discovery to delivery, and act as senior technical escalation point.

The role focuses on solving complex challenges, optimizing performance, security, and modernization, with autonomy to influence solution direction and collaborate with architects, engineers and project teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on infrastructure professional with strong technical knowledge and customer-facing skills.
• Experience across VMware infrastructure and networking technologies, including NSX.
• Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.

Responsibilities

Not all VMware roles are the same.

This opportunity is for an experienced infrastructure specialist who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, designing scalable solutions, and becoming a trusted advisor to enterprise customers.

You'll work across a diverse portfolio of customer environments, combining technical consultancy, solution design, project delivery, and senior-level support. One day you could be designing a greenfield NSX deployment, the next helping a customer optimise performance, strengthen security, or modernise their infrastructure strategy.

This is a role for someone who wants more than operational support. You'll be given the autonomy to lead technical engagements, influence solution direction, and take ownership from initial discovery through to successful delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing and implementing enterprise VMware and NSX solutions.

You'll be a hands‑on infrastructure professional who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent customer-facing skills.

You should be comfortable:

• Leading technical discussions with enterprise stakeholders.
• Designing solutions rather than simply implementing them.
• Taking ownership of critical incidents and complex projects.
• Working independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
• Translating business requirements into practical technical solutions.

Technical Experience

We're particularly interested in candidates with strong experience across VMware infrastructure and networking technologies, including three or more of the following:

• VMware NSX-V
• VMware NSX-T
• VMware Aria Operations for Networks (vRNI)
• VMware Carbon Black
• NSX Advanced Load Balancer (AVI)
• VMware Cloud on AWS

You should also have experience with:

• Enterprise VMware environments
• Virtual and physical networking
• High-availability solutions
• Capacity planning and performance optimisation
• Infrastructure lifecycle management
• Enterprise monitoring and management tools

Desirable Skills

• VCP and/or VCAP certification
• Software Defined Data Centre (SDDC) technologies
• Cloud platforms and management tools
• Security-focused infrastructure solutions
• Linux administration
• PowerShell, Python, or automation scripting
• ITIL Foundation certification
