Job summary

Job description

My client, a leading professional services company is on the lookout for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator on an initial 6 month contract with view for extension.

The Job:

• Core Infrastructure & Cloud Operations: Administer, configure, and optimize hybrid IT environments spanning Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, VMware virtualization, storage systems, and core network equipment. Monitor capacity and system health to maintain high availability and performance.
• Cloud & Identity Services: Manage Microsoft Azure landing zones, subscriptions, and RBAC standards. Administer M365 ecosystems, Entra ID, Intune, Conditional Access policies, and Zero Trust security controls in coordination with security operations teams.
• Modern Workplace & Collaboration: Support and optimize modern workplace tooling across Microsoft 365 services (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, OneDrive) while driving endpoint compliance and device analytics initiatives.
• IT Ops & Service Management: Provide Tier 2/3 technical escalation support within ITIL-driven workflows for Incident, Problem, and Change Management. Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA), apply system patches, and meet strict SLA metrics.
• Security & Vulnerability Remediation: Execute infrastructure hardening, vulnerability remediation, and regulatory compliance standards using tools such as Microsoft Defender and Azure Security Center.
• Project Delivery & Modernization: Lead infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, and process automation efforts. Develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.

Have You:

• Experience & Education: A relevant technical degree in Computer Science or IT, paired with a minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering and systems administration.
• Core Technical Proficiency: Deep technical knowledge of Microsoft cloud services (Azure, Entra ID, M365, Intune), Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization (VMware), core networking (DNS, DHCP, routing/switching, firewalls), and scripting for automation (PowerShell).
• Process & Framework Expertise: Hands‑on experience operating within ITIL-driven operational frameworks, managing formal change controls, and executing structured vulnerability remediation.
• Desirable Certifications: Held or currently hold Azure or M365 credentials (e.g., AZ‑104, AZ‑800, M365 Administrator Expert), networking or security badges (CCNA, CompTIA+, CISSP), or ITIL Foundation certifications. Exposure to IaC, AKS, or GitHub Enterprise is a distinct advantage.
