Job summary

Trinity College Dublin seeks a senior systems administrator to develop, manage and administer unified IT infrastructure, principally in the University’s new E3 Learning Foundry (E3LF).

A central component is serving as a senior systems administrator within the Teaching and Learning IT Team, overseeing software deployment and system administration for computer labs and BYOD environments in E3LF, and secondarily across campus and remotely.

Qualifications

  • Senior systems administrator with experience in enterprise IT infrastructure.
  • Experience coordinating with multiple IT teams and external partners.
  • Ability to manage large-scale software deployment and imaging processes.

Post Summary: To develop, manage and administer unified IT infrastructure, principally in the University’s new E3 Learning Foundry (E3LF). A central component of this role is to serve as a senior systems administrator, within the Teaching and Learning IT Team, overseeing software deployment and system administration for computer labs and BYOD environments in E3LF, and secondarily across campus and remotely. They will manage and maintain software distribution tools and PC imaging systems, focusing primarily on approximately 400 PCs in E3LF. The E3LF PC infrastructure integrates with advanced AV over IP technologies and both production and non production wired and Wi-Fi networks in the Foundry. The post holder will act as the primary technical resource and subject matter expert responsible for ensuring the the unified infrastructure remains operational to meet agreed service levels and is continuously improved and developed.

A significant element of this role involves ongoing engagement with the E3 Operations Manager, colleagues in the three E3 Schools and IT Services and with external support partners. They will work closely with an AV specialist who will be primarily responsible for the proactive and reactive management of AV within the Learning Foundry. Working as part of a broader team, they will both provide and receive backup support from their colleagues to ensure that there is cover for all unified IT infrastructure under the remit of the Teaching & Learning IT team. The post holder reports to the Teaching & Learning IT Manager.

Post status: Permanent Contract

Hours of Post: 35 hours per week

Salary: This appointment will be made on the Administrative 1 (Points 1-3), Salary Scale (€71,651 - €92,692 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy. monthly/weekly payscales. (tcd.ie)
