Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Europe (HBUEU) is seeking a Senior Electrical Substation Engineer to lead design for Primary Equipment, Protection and Control systems and associated auxiliary systems at Transmission and Distribution levels. You will be respected for your technical skills and ability to deliver on time and on budget.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification of BEng (honours) in a related engineering field and 5 years of applicable experience.
• Proven knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (220kV to 11 kV).
• Primary (yard/equipment) and/or secondary (protection & control) substation experience.
• Good teamwork, Analytical and communication skills.
• Ability in working to tight deadlines and working in high pressurised environments.
• Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office, Autocad.
• Sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes and tools.
• Strong commitment to safe work practices and a high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and desire to learn about new technologies.
• Understanding / Knowledge of Distribution Network Operator / National Grid etc. standards and drawing practices.
• Coaching and reviewing the work of team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver design for Primary Equipment, Protection and Control systems and associated auxiliary systems.
• Coordinate engineering discipline across projects and provide technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning.
• Prepare complete project documents and ensure solutions meet budget and schedule.
• Design check and approve P&C schemes per ISO 9001, IEC standards.
• Create Work Breakdown Structures for tendering and support BIM projects as required.
• Liaise with clients and lead client meetings; deliver technically excellent engineering designs.
