Job summary

Designer Group Ltd in Ireland is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with HV experience to lead our HV projects across the full lifecycle, from concept to handover. You will provide technical leadership, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and ensure compliance with standards.

The role emphasizes safety, hands-on design review, grid connections and substation expertise, with 5+ years of HV experience and a proven ability to mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5+ years experience delivering HV electrical infrastructure projects.
• Safety focused with a strong attention to detail.
• Experience with HV substations and grid connections (switchgear, transformers, control & protection systems, earthing & lightning).
• Experience of projects ranging from 10 kV to 400 kV.
• Strong understanding of HV system design, installation, testing, commissioning and energisation.
• Experience across data centres, utilities, renewable energy, power generation, pharmaceutical or industrial projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV electrical infrastructure design and coordination.
• Provide technical support to tendering.
• Coordinate in-house and external designers on EPC projects.
• Review HV designs for compliance with standards.
• Develop procurement specifications and support vendor selection.
• Review and approve HV submittals and vendor packages.
• Support procurement, FATs, SATs, commissioning and energisation.
• Carry out QA/QC, ITPs and handover documentation.
• Assist in preparing operator training and familiarisation material.
• Manage the transition from design through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Contribute to ongoing development and improvement of policies and processes.
