Job summary

Enable Ireland is seeking a highly motivated Senior Grade Speech and Language Therapist to join our team based at the Children's Disability Network Team West Kerry, Oakview Village, Tralee, Co Kerry.

This permanent 0.8 WTE post (28 hours) delivers SLT services across clinics, schools and community settings, including assessment and intervention for children and adolescents with complex needs arising from a disability. Competitive salary scale is €63,313–€74,947 pro rata per annum.

Qualifications

• Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Speech and Language Therapists Register maintained by CORU.
• Have 3 years full time (or an aggregate of three years) post qualification clinical experience.
• Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
• Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Speech and Language Therapists Register maintained by CORU
• On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Speech and Language Therapists Register maintained by the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU
• Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to Enable Ireland
• Have a valid full driving licence and access to own transport
• Candidates must be eligible to work in the state.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organise individual and group caseloads and provide a range of speech and language therapy services to include assessment, diagnosis and needs based interventions to children with complex needs.
• Services may be delivered across a range of settings including but not limited to clinic, home, education (including special educational placements) and community settings.
• Under the tiered model, this may include direct and indirect support to families as well as key contact and other duties.
• To foresee potential challenges or competing priorities and take appropriate action to ensure service standards are maintained.
• To foster an awareness of the need for value for money and a sense of accountability for budgets within the team/service.
• To take responsibility for the achievement of service delivery targets by regularly monitoring, recording, and reporting performance outcomes and statistics.
• To demonstrate innovation in aiming to work within resource limitations to sustain and enhance the service.
• To take responsibility for the clinical supervision of speech and language therapists within the team/service as required.
• To identify the needs of and manage the overall caseload of the speech and language therapy team.
• To participate in relevant clinical and team meetings as deemed appropriate by CDNM and represent the CDNT and/or Lead Agency at meetings and fora as designated.
• To maintain appropriate service user records and statistics in accordance with Enable Ireland requirements and local guidelines, Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Acts and other relevant legislation.
