Job summary

Elasticsearch B.V. in Ireland seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Search Relevance team, delivering a robust search experience and new features. You will work across continents, implement complex algorithms, and enhance relevance in a fast-paced environment.

You will contribute to a globally distributed team, write idiomatic Java, and collaborate on open-source projects while advancing vector search capabilities and performance.

Qualifications

• Experience with vector similarity on large-scale search platforms.
• Professional experience with search or vector databases and relevant algorithms (HNSW, IVF).
• Strong Java skills and knowledge of concurrent data structures.
• Ability to guide projects end-to-end in a distributed team.
• Experience collaborating on open-source projects is a plus.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.

Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives to deliver industry-leading search speed and relevance.
