Job summary

Bloomberg is building a Dublin-based platform engineering team to own a new infrastructure platform that deploys, configures, validates, and observes critical production services. You will help modernize toward declarative configuration, automated workflows, and robust health telemetry.

We are seeking senior engineers who enjoy building reliable infrastructure platforms with production impact, and who can learn new areas on the job while collaborating across Bloomberg teams.

Bloomberg runs critical production services that need to be deployed, configured, validated, monitored, and operated safely at scale. Our team is building software platforms that will modernize how we manage vital infrastructure that currently is hand-deployed. We will be modernizing toward declarative configuration, deployment workflows, validation systems, health telemetry, rollback tooling, and operational workflows for services that Bloomberg teams rely on every day.

This is an end-to-end ownership role. The team owns both the software platform and the production services it manages. As the platform matures, we will continue to operate the underlying services while moving from manual operator workflows toward safer automation, clearer production signals, and more repeatable change management.

We are building the Dublin team that will own this platform going forward, and this is a rare opportunity to join at an early stage of both the team and the office’s growth. You will help establish a new engineering presence for a critical platform within a rapidly growing Dublin office, shaping the team’s engineering standards, architecture, and operating model for years to come.

We are looking for senior software engineers who enjoy building reliable infrastructure platforms, can reason carefully about production systems, and can learn new technical areas on the job. If you enjoy building infrastructure-as-code, deployment workflows, validation systems, and automation for complex production environments, this role should feel familiar even if the underlying services are new to you.

Technologies We Use

Our platform is built using Bloomberg’s internal engineering ecosystem and production infrastructure tooling, including:

• Python
• Go
• KVM-based virtualization on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• Observability platforms such as Humio, Splunk, and Grafana
• Bloomberg internal deployment, configuration, and infrastructure management tooling

We’ll trust you to

• Design and build software systems that manage production services safely at scale.
• Build deployment, configuration, validation, and observability workflows for production infrastructure.
• Build systems that make changes easier to review, validate, audit, and roll back while reducing reliance on manual operator steps.
• Improve telemetry, alerting, and health checks so issues are easier to detect and diagnose.
• Own and operate the production services your platform manages, with support from the team and clear escalation paths.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Work with internal users and partner teams to understand requirements, explain constraints, and deliver supportable platform solutions.
• Review your own code and others’ code carefully, with high standards for correctness, design quality, test coverage, maintainability, and operational safety.
• Challenge assumptions and help shape the architecture and operating model as the platform evolves.

You’ll need to have

• Strong software engineering experience in a functional or object-oriented programming language. Python and Go are helpful, but strong engineering judgment matters far more than a specific language background.
• Experience building, testing, debugging, and operating production software or infrastructure platforms.
• Ability to reason through ambiguous technical problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and make sound design decisions.Strong written, verbal, and diagram-based communication skills.
• High standards for code authorship and review, including careful review of your own changes and others’ code for correctness, design quality, test coverage, and long-term maintainability.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a similar field of study, or equivalent work experience.

We’d love to see

• Experience building deployment platforms, orchestration systems, infrastructure-as-code workflows, or internal developer/operator tooling.
• Experience designing safe rollout, validation, rollback, or automated remediation workflows.
• Experience with observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Humio, Prometheus, or similar.
• Experience supporting internal users with diverse requirements while maintaining clear platform standards.
• Familiarity with Linux infrastructure, virtualization, or large-scale production systems.
• Interest in mentoring others and raising the engineering maturity of a team.
