Job summary

Bentley Systems in Ireland’s Dublin area seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the Facilities Engineering team. You will contribute to desktop services and the evolution of our engineering software, working in small, empowered teams to deliver high-quality solutions used by professionals across plant, building, and structural sectors.

You will own features, collaborate with product managers, QA and DevOps, and mentor junior engineers while helping shape architecture and design patterns for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering with 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of C++, C#, .NET and Python.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor).
• Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar frameworks exposing services to agentic apps.
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Grafana).
• Strong problem-solving and system-design skills.
• Familiarity with SDLC, Agile and Scrum; OO, SOLID and DRY principles; unit testing.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the functionality you write and designs you implement.
• Research, evaluate and explore new technologies as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product managers, QA, DevOps) to define requirements and deliver solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex issues in existing codebases.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure quality standards.
• Contribute to system architecture discussions and improve design patterns and frameworks.
• Develop unit tests to ensure quality and coverage.
• Share knowledge with the team and mentor junior members.
