Job description

We are partnering with a high-growth healthcare technology start-up to appoint a Senior Software Engineer who will play a key role in building and scaling an AI-powered healthcare platform focused on mental health and neurodevelopmental assessment.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role working directly with the CTO and a multidisciplinary team of AI researchers, clinicians, product specialists and engineers. The successful candidate will take ownership across the full technology stack, helping to develop secure, scalable and production-ready software systems with meaningful clinical impact. This opportunity would suit a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, takes pride in building high-quality software, and wants to join an ambitious start-up at an exciting stage of growth.

What you'll be doing

You will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining software across frontend, backend and cloud infrastructure environments. This will include building scalable web applications, APIs, microservices and integrations to support AI-driven healthcare products. You will also work on cloud infrastructure, containerised applications, CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows, helping to ensure the platform is reliable, secure and scalable as the company grows. Given the healthcare focus, security, data privacy and compliance will be key. You will contribute to secure software development practices, support the handling of sensitive clinical data, and work closely with quality and regulatory stakeholders where required. A key part of the role will involve supporting the integration of machine learning models into production systems and contributing to the development of AI-enabled product features.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will bring

  • 5+ years' experience in software engineering or full-stack development
  • Strong experience building and maintaining production web applications
  • Backend development experience and strong API design capability
  • Frontend development experience using modern web technologies
  • Experience deploying and managing cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • CI/CD and modern DevOps experience
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity and secure software development
  • Experience with data privacy, governance or secure data management
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted or agentic coding tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in healthcare, medical devices, regulated environments, AI products, MLOps, LLMs, vector databases, RAG systems or machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch would be a strong advantage, but is not essential.
