Job summary

I'm looking for a Senior Software Delivery Manager who enjoys leading software programmes, delivering multiple complex projects, working closely with clients, and leading delivery across hybrid teams.

The ideal person will have delivered software programmes/projects at scale, worked with cross-functional teams, and will excel at managing delivery across multiple workstreams. You will be client-facing, so strong stakeholder management and the ability to build trust with senior stakeholders will be important. Depending on the client/programme, the role will involve managing teams of around 30 people across multiple projects, including internal delivery teams and, in some cases, client-side resources.

This position would suit someone who brings a strong mix of three key areas:

• Project management
• A technical background or strong understanding of software engineering
• Agile delivery, with the flexibility to use waterfall approaches where needed

You will be involved in:

• Managing delivery teams across agile and hybrid environments
• Working closely with clients and senior stakeholders
• Overseeing governance, reporting, risks, budgets and resourcing
• Supporting delivery quality and continuous improvement
• Collaborating with technical teams to ensure solutions are delivered effectively
• Helping teams stay focused, organised and moving in the right direction

The ideal background:

• At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership or programme management capacity
• 15+ years of experience in software delivery or programme delivery
• Experience managing large-scale technology projects
• A good understanding of modern software engineering practices
• Agile delivery experience, with a pragmatic approach to methodology
• Strong project management and stakeholder management skills
• Experience managing hybrid or multi-disciplinary teams
• Consulting or management consultancy experience would be a strong advantage
• Product delivery experience would also be very relevant
