Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Principal Security Engineer in Ireland to shape, engineer and operationalize enterprise security platforms. You will set technical direction, mentor engineers and ensure control discipline in a regulated financial environment.

Lead security tooling across zero-trust, SASE/SSE, network security and AI guardrails, while collaborating with architecture, risk, and audit stakeholders. Strong experience in SSE/SASE and ServiceNow integration is required.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in information technology, cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Deep hands-on experience with at least one SSE/SASE platform, including ZTNA, secure web gateway policy, segmentation, and operating model design.
• Experience integrating security tools with ServiceNow, SIEM platforms and enterprise reporting workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead engineering of security platform domains and runbooks.
• Define patterns, standards and operational governance for security tooling.
• Coordinate cross-functional security initiatives across engineering, risk and audit teams.
