Job summary

Amazon Development Centre Ireland Limited in Ireland seeks a Senior Software Development Engineer to design and operate scalable, serverless migration workflows for database workloads across AWS. You’ll mentor SDEs, own architecture decisions, and drive reliability and performance.

You will work at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, databases, and AI/ML, delivering end-to-end migration lifecycle features and engaging with cross-functional teams to raise the bar on operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience mentoring or leading an engineering team.
• Experience in architecture and design (patterns, reliability, scaling) of new and current systems.
• Experience in professional, non-internship software development.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, serverless microservices that power the migration lifecycle — assessment, schema conversion, data movement.
• Develop intelligent, agent-driven migration workflows that integrate with modern developer tools and leverage natural language interfaces.
• Own the end-to-end migration lifecycle — from pre-migration assessment and schema conversion through data movement phases.
• Solve hard distributed systems challenges around reliability, security, and performance for customers migrating their most critical production workloads.
• Work at the intersection of cloud infrastructure and AI/ML to deliver a seamless, low-friction migration experience that removes traditional barriers to database modernization.
• Mentor SDEs through code reviews, design guidance; Participate in on-call rotations and operational excellence initiatives.
