Job summary

WSP Ireland is seeking a Principal Engineer for the Roads team, based in Dublin, Limerick or Naas. You will lead a growing team delivering concept, preliminary and detailed designs for major national road schemes and active travel projects, including the N/M20 Cork to Limerick and MetroLink.

You will manage projects from inception to handover, liaise with clients, act as technical lead and reviewer, develop staff, and ensure health, safety and quality standards across multi‑disciplinary inputs.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering road/public transport/active travel schemes.
• Experience with TII/NTA/Local Authority procedures.
• Contract document preparation or administration experience.
• Strong communication and client management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary design and project management of road schemes and active travel projects.
• Manage client relationships and expectations.
• Act as technical lead and reviewer.
• Develop staff and oversee design drawings and tender packages.
• Prepare fee proposals and manage project budgets.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and QA standards.
• Oversee delivery from inception to handover.
