Job summary

St Vincent’s University Hospital is inviting applications for a Senior Radiographer within the Radiology Department. The post involves organising and supervising radiographic and imaging procedures, with duties spanning clinical practice, safety, and staff development.

The role includes participation in out-of-hours rosters and potential deputising for senior staff. Informal enquiries are welcome to the Radiography Service Manager III, and the closing date for applications is 05 October 2026.

Responsibilities

• To organise/supervise/perform radiographic/imaging/interventional procedures according to protocols and supervise other staff as appropriate
• To assist in the daily operational management of the services
• To maintain high standards of patient care, clinical practice and safety
• To keep abreast of current techniques and developments in relation to specialised imaging modalities
• To assist in the education and training of staff and students and encourage professional development
• To adhere to Health & Safety Guidelines and all hospital and department policies and procedures
• To ensure Radiation Protection Rules are applied and comply with National Ionising Radiation Legislation
• To participate in the out-of-hours emergency services roster as required
• To report defects or issues with equipment to the Radiography Service Manager
• To participate in Clinical Audit & Quality Improvement Programmes
• To attend post-graduate courses and undertake/assist with research projects
• To adhere to professional guidelines laid down by the Irish Institute of Radiographers
• To perform other duties in the Radiology Department as deemed appropriate by the Radiography Service Manager
• The post holder may deputise for a Clinical Specialist Radiographer when required
