Job summary

Blackrock Clinic in Dublin is seeking a Radiology Services Manager 2 to lead designated imaging services and support the Radiology Services Manager 3. You will oversee staff, ensure safe patient care, and drive service improvements in a 35-hour week, on-site role.

The role requires a BSc in Radiography, CORU registration, and substantial post-qualification experience in an acute setting. Salary is negotiable and benefits include pension and staff programmes.

Qualifications

• BSc in Radiography or equivalent.
• CORU Registration.
• 6 years post-qualification clinical experience.
• Experience in an acute hospital setting — essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of designated imaging services, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
• Act as deputy to the Radiology Services Manager 3 as required.
• Provide leadership and operational oversight to Radiology Services Manager 1 staff and all radiology personnel within assigned areas.
• Ensure effective patient flow, capacity management, waiting list management, and achievement of departmental performance targets.
• Monitor departmental activity levels, productivity, utilisation rates, and key performance indicators, implementing improvements where required.
• Lead workforce planning activities including recruitment, retention, induction, rostering, attendance management, performance management, and succession planning.
• Support the development and implementation of departmental operational plans aligned with organisational objectives.
• Lead service improvement projects and quality initiatives to enhance patient experience, operational efficiency, and clinical effectiveness.
• Take responsibility for clinical governance activities including audit, quality assurance, accreditation requirements, and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure compliance with radiation protection legislation, professional practice standards, health and safety requirements, and organisational policies.
• Manage incidents, complaints, risks, and investigations within designated services and ensure actions are implemented and monitored.
• Support procurement, commissioning, optimisation, and replacement of imaging equipment.
• Contribute to financial management through monitoring expenditure, resource utilisation, staffing costs, and consumable usage.
• Lead education and staff development programmes, supporting advanced practice, role development, and continuing professional development.
• Participate in service planning, business case development, and implementation of new technologies and services.
• Maintain clinical competence and undertake imaging examinations where operationally required.

Role Purpose

The role of the Radiology Services Manager 2 is to lead and manage designated areas of the Diagnostic Imaging Department and support the Radiology Services Manager 3 in the operational, quality, workforce, and strategic management of radiology services.

Qualifications/ Experience

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

• BSc. in Radiography or equivalent
• CORU Registration
• 6 years post qualification clinical experience

• The post holder will be an experienced radiographer, and leader with proven management capabilities, responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centred, safe and efficient service delivery while driving continuous improvement and supporting departmental development.

• Build and maintain positive working relationships with referring clinicians, hospital management, and external stakeholders.
• Manage difficult conversations, conflict resolution, and performance discussions in a professional and constructive manner.
• Prepare and present service reports, activity data, audits, and quality metrics as required.
• Adhere to Human Resource policies as set out in The Blackrock Clinic Employee Manual.
• Cooperate and take part in the Blackrock Clinic Mission Statement in dealing with patients and clinic staff members.
• Comply with policies and procedures at Blackrock Clinic as regards Health & Safety, Accident and Incident Reporting, Complaints Procedure, Fire Policy and Evacuation.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patients and activities of Blackrock Clinic.
