Job summary

Blackedge Consulting in Dublin is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of major construction projects. You will work with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager and wider team to drive financial performance from procurement through to final account.

The role requires strong NEC/JCT knowledge, proven stakeholder management and the ability to mentor junior commercial staff.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Strong construction experience in a main contractor environment.
• Experience taking commercial responsibility for projects.
• Knowledge of procurement, subcontract management and final accounts.
• Good contractual and commercial understanding; NEC/JCT experience.
• Chartered status via RICS/CIOB is beneficial but not essential.
• Ability to mentor junior commercial staff.

Blackedge are working with a leading international construction and engineering business looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor in Dublin.

This is a senior commercial role with responsibility for the full commercial management of projects, working closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager and wider construction team.

The role will suit somebody who is confident taking ownership of the commercial performance of projects from procurement through to final account.

The role will include:

• Full commercial management of construction projects
• Subcontractor procurement, tendering and negotiation
• Cost forecasting, valuations and cash flow management
• Management and agreement of variations
• Preparation and agreement of final accounts
• Identifying and managing commercial risk and opportunity
• Supporting claims, contractual correspondence and dispute management
• Working closely with clients, consultants and subcontractors
• Commercial reporting to senior management
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team

What we are looking for:

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Strong construction experience, ideally within a main contractor environment
• Experience taking commercial responsibility for projects
• Strong knowledge of procurement, subcontract management and final accounts
• Good contractual and commercial understanding
• Experience with NEC and/or JCT forms of contract
• Confident dealing with clients, project teams and subcontractors
• Experience supporting or mentoring junior commercial staff
• Chartered status through RICS, CIOB or an equivalent professional body would be beneficial, but it is not essential.

This could suit an established Senior Quantity Surveyor or a strong Project Quantity Surveyor ready to take on greater commercial responsibility.
