Job summary

Brightwater Recruitment is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join the EMEA Regulatory Finance Technology team in a hybrid Dublin role. The candidate will ensure quality of finance and regulatory reporting platforms through test planning, data validation, and automation, working with global teams in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years in Software Quality Assurance in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on test planning, creation of test cases, execution and defect management.
  • Advanced SQL skills with data validation, ETL and data migration testing.
  • Experience across full SDLC in Agile environments, knowledge of QA tools.
  • Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and release validation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute test plans, cases, and scripts for regulatory finance applications.
  • Perform end-to-end functional, integration, regression and UAT testing.
  • Validate large datasets using SQL, ETL and data quality verification.
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts and stakeholders throughout SDLC.
  • Drive QA release cycle, track defects, report status and validate releases.
  • Maintain RTMs and test documentation; support automation initiatives.
  • Identify process improvements via automation and AI-assisted testing.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies and ensure governance and regulatory compliance.

As part of continued investment in its Regulatory Finance Technology function, the bank is expanding its Quality Assurance capability to support the delivery of strategic regulatory reporting solutions across the EMEA region.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join the EMEA Regulatory Finance Technology team, supporting the delivery of business-critical finance and regulatory reporting platforms.

This is a hands‑on role focused on ensuring the quality, accuracy, and reliability of enterprise applications through comprehensive testing and validation. Working within a global Agile environment, you will be responsible for test planning, test execution, data validation, defect management, and release support across complex regulatory reporting solutions.

The role offers significant exposure to data‑intensive applications, with a strong emphasis on SQL, ETL, data migration, and data quality testing. You'll work closely with Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Production Support, and Change Management teams to ensure solutions are delivered to the highest quality standards while supporting the continued evolution of QA automation and AI‑assisted testing practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for regulatory finance applications.
  • Perform end‑to‑end functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing across enterprise platforms.
  • Validate large volumes of data through SQL queries, ETL testing, data migration testing, data conversion, and data quality verification.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams, business stakeholders, production support, and change management throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive the end‑to‑end QA release cycle, including test execution, defect tracking, reporting, and release validation.
  • Prepare and maintain Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs) and other test documentation.
  • Support the development and maintenance of automated testing frameworks using modern automation tools.
  • Identify opportunities to improve testing processes through automation, AI-assisted testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform root cause analysis of defects and work closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, and Retrospectives.
  • Ensure testing activities comply with enterprise governance, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with global technology teams across multiple locations to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Key Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Software Quality Assurance within enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands‑on experience in test planning, test case creation, test execution, and defect management.
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience validating large datasets and performing complex data analysis.
  • Strong experience with ETL testing, data migration testing, data conversion testing, and data quality verification.
  • Experience working across the full software testing lifecycle within Agile environments.
  • Good understanding of both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
  • Experience with test management tools such as Octane or similar.
  • Hands‑on experience with automation testing and modern automation frameworks such as Playwright, Tosca, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and command-line operations.
  • Experience using CI/CD pipelines and supporting release validation activities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within globally distributed teams.
Nice to Have
  • Previous experience within Banking, Financial Services, or Regulatory Reporting environments.
  • Experience testing finance, risk, or regulatory reporting applications.
  • Exposure to enterprise data warehouses and large-scale data platforms.
  • Experience using AI-assisted testing tools such as GitHub Copilot or other Generative AI solutions to improve testing efficiency.
  • Knowledge of API testing and automation.
  • Experience working within highly regulated enterprise environments.
  • ISTQB or other relevant QA certifications.
  • Exposure to performance or non-functional testing.
