Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is seeking a Senior Project Planner to support multi-disciplinary, multi-site projects across Ireland. You will facilitate planning, scheduling and control, providing clear, fact-based answers to management questions to enable informed decisions and flag risks early to the Lead Planner.

In this role you will develop integrated schedules with Main Contractors, load labour, track progress weekly with site teams and drive risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• 3rd level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying or strong trades background coupled with technical ability may be considered.
• 5+ years experience / demonstrate ability to develop and implement plans, monitor and control work
• Must be capable of producing project plans from design and commercial information
• Must be capable of coordinating the development of multiple project plans
• Microsoft Project / P6 or Equivalent Planning Software, Microsoft Office tools - Excellent report writing skills
• Time management essential to satisfy demands of busy schedule

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality service to the project manager.
• Mentor Planners/Juniors as required.
• Review contract docs and highlight key schedule requirements.
• Develop construction schedule based on high level target schedule and WBS from Project manager.
• Support in client schedule negotiations.
• Labour & Metrics load the schedule based on hours & quantities from the Commercial Team.
• Develop the required Trackers and Reporting templates.
• Develop fully integrated construction schedule in conjunction with the Main Contractor and Project Manager.
• Measure & track weekly progress and efficiency with the Site Team and validate this with the Commercial Team every 2/3 weeks.
• Highlight potential risks and roadblocks to the project team and lead planner.
• Point of contact for the Project Manager for all planning issues.
• Develop Schedules and Histograms for Bid Support as required by the Lead Planner.
• Coordinate Planning Phase activities; ensure requirements met.
• Facilitate Planning Meeting(s) as required.
• Validate High Level Target Schedule against IFC info.
• Optimize build schedule and create a Pinch Pint Register.
• Produce Labour-loaded schedules and S-curve; submit for review.
• Negotiate strategy with main contractor schedule risk.
• Attend meetings with Main Contractor / CMT to negotiate.
• Revise and detail schedule; align with budgets.
• Produce Build Methodology / Phasing Drawings.
• Present latest schedule to construction team.
• Support risk identification & mitigation.
• Provide early warnings and drive performance improvements.
• Monitor progress and efficiency with Commercial Team.
• Chair weekly Look Ahead meetings on site.
• Produce weekly Drop-line Schedule for 2-week look-ahead.
• Schedule management, revision and maintenance.
• Escalate risk items to Lead Planner & Planning Manager.
• Look for opportunities to improve internal processes.
