Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Manager to shape and lead a global procurement function within a multinational manufacturing environment. You will drive sourcing strategies, optimize supplier partnerships, and support growth through strategic category leadership.

You will lead a team of 6–8 procurement professionals, embed procurement in product development, and partner with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Product Development to deliver value and resilience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years' procurement experience within a global manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proven experience developing and delivering strategic procurement and sourcing strategies.
• Strong background in project-based procurement, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing significant spend.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Project Management functions.
• Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to execution.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.

This newly created role offers the opportunity to shape sourcing strategy, strengthen supplier partnerships, and deliver sustainable value across direct and indirect spend within a complex multinational manufacturing environment. Reporting into senior leadership, you will lead a team of 6–8 procurement professionals and partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, and Product Development teams to support growth, innovation, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Procurement Leadership

• Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team of 6–8 procurement professionals.
• Build strategic procurement capability through best practices, coaching, and continuous improvement.

• Supplier & Vendor Management
• Build strong strategic partnerships with key suppliers.
• Lead complex commercial and contract negotiations.

• Deliver cost savings and value improvement initiatives.
• Balance cost, quality, and operational requirements using a total cost of ownership approach.
• Strengthen supply resilience and proactively manage procurement risks.
• Cross‑Functional Leadership & Governance
• Act as the senior procurement representative within project and governance forums.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual standards, and audit requirements.
• Use ERP and procurement systems to track spend, supplier performance, and commitments.

Qualifications

Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.

Preferred

• Professional procurement qualification (CIPS or equivalent).
• Experience supporting multi‑site or global manufacturing operations.
• Familiarity with project governance and stage‑gate delivery models.
• Advanced ERP and procurement systems experience (SAP or equivalent).
• Experience supporting new product introductions and complex supply chains.
