Job summary

Mastercard Inc. seeks a Senior Principal, Software Architect to shape the future of Customer Acquisition & Engagement.

This hands-on IC will define the architectural vision, drive phased roadmaps, and align product strategy with scalable, secure, and observable platforms. You will mentor teams, collaborate with Product and Technology, and leverage AI-assisted engineering to accelerate prototyping while maintaining rigorous security and privacy standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in enterprise-scale architecture and platform strategy.
• Strong CS foundation; design and build large-scale distributed platforms.
• Hands-on software engineering and coding skills.
• Experience using generative AI in engineering workflows.
• Deep understanding of cloud platforms, APIs, distributed systems, data architecture.
• Experience in MarTech ecosystem: CDP, CRM, identity resolution, audience segmentation, decisioning, journey orchestration, loyalty and rewards, channel activation, experimentation, measurement, attribution.
• Experience defining target-state architectures and migrations across products and teams.
• Ability to simplify highly complex technical problems and connect architectural decisions to measurable business outcomes.
• Strong executive presence and communication with stakeholders, including senior executives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; mentoring engineers and cross-functional collaboration.
• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Define North Star architecture translating strategy into a scalable technical vision.
• Develop phased roadmaps moving platforms toward the target state with clear priorities.
• Lead architecture across large-scale distributed systems for scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Drive MarTech integration: data, identity, audiences, personalization, offers, loyalty, activation, experimentation, measurement.
• Define enterprise architecture patterns, standards, and reusable components for engineering teams.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Technology, and business teams to align decisions with outcomes.
• Evaluate complex challenges, map data flows, and prototype solutions to validate architectures.
• Provide hands-on leadership across cloud, APIs, event-driven architectures, data platforms, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Leverage generative AI to accelerate prototyping and improve workflows, while ensuring oversight and security.
• Guide architectural decisions from design through production with privacy and resilience in mind.
• Influence cross-organizational decisions and communicate with executives.
• Mentor architects and engineers and foster cross-functional collaboration.
