Job summary

IFS seeks a Senior Principal Platform Lead to own and build the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) from vision to execution. This is a greenfield, individual-contributor role focused on delivering a developer-centric platform and self-service capabilities for NGA and IFS product teams.

You will work hands-on with Kubernetes, GitOps, IaC, CI/CD, and modern AI tooling, shaping platform standards and golden paths while driving adoption across the organisation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in platform engineering, infrastructure, or developer-tools engineering.
• Owned an IDP or developer portal end-to-end (Backstage, Port, Cortex, or equivalent).
• Shipped production AI platforms at enterprise scale with strong adoption.
• Hands-on infrastructure depth: Kubernetes, GitOps, IaC, CI/CD, secrets management, observability.
• Familiarity with Go, React/Next.js, Kafka/RedPanda, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes (AKS).

Responsibilities

• Define IDP strategy, roadmap, and end-to-end execution.
• Drive adoption: self-service, golden paths, templates, and service catalogues.
• Collaborate with NGA product teams and R&D to prioritise fixes.
• Mentor Principal/Senior platform engineers and raise DX standards.
• Communicate platform strategy to engineering leaders and product directors.
