Senior Principal Engineer, Process Integration Engineering

at Analog Devices Limerick is a senior P6 individual contributor role responsible for setting technical direction for end-to-end process integration across semiconductor manufacturing technologies. The role provides recognised technical leadership on process flow integration, module interactions, yield improvement, device performance, process robustness, technology transfer and ramp readiness. Operating with significant autonomy and broad organisational influence, the Senior Principal Engineer will shape integration strategy, resolve highly complex cross-module technical challenges, influence site and global manufacturing priorities, and deliver sustained business impact across yield, quality, cost, reliability, cycle time and customer commitments.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Process Integration Strategy and Technical Direction: act as a recognised technical authority for process integration, setting direction for process flows, module interactions, integration trade-offs and fab-level priorities across multiple technologies, products or process platforms.
  • Yield, Device Performance and Process Robustness: lead complex cross-module yield and performance improvement initiatives, using integration knowledge to identify systemic issues, reduce process variation, improve manufacturability and strengthen long-term process capability.
  • Technology Transfer and Ramp Readiness: partner with process development, product engineering, manufacturing, quality and global operations to translate new technologies, materials, device requirements and process flows into stable, repeatable and scalable manufacturing capability.
  • Complex Problem Solving and Excursion Leadership: lead resolution of highly complex integration issues where root cause spans multiple modules, tools, materials or product families; apply sound technical judgement, structured problem solving, statistical methods and disciplined risk management to prevent recurrence.
  • Advanced Data Analytics and Process Control: use yield, metrology, probe, reliability, defect, equipment and process-control data to identify trends, predict risk, define control strategies and enable proactive decision-making across the fab.
  • Cross-Functional and Global Influence: influence senior technical and operational stakeholders across integration, process engineering, equipment engineering, product engineering, quality, manufacturing, R&D and global operations; align teams around complex technical priorities and trade-offs.
  • Standards, Governance and Knowledge Systems: establish and improve integration standards, control plans, escalation paths, documentation practices and lessons-learned systems to ensure disciplined execution, repeatable decision-making and scalable knowledge transfer.
  • Technical Mentoring and Capability Building: mentor senior engineers and technical teams, build process integration capability across the organisation and serve as a trusted technical resource for complex decisions.
  • P6-Level Impact: shape technical roadmaps, influence beyond immediate scope, simplify complex manufacturing challenges and deliver sustained site, business or global manufacturing impact.
Skills And Technical Capabilities Required
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor process flows, module interactions, device behaviour, yield mechanisms, integration trade-offs and how technical decisions impact fab-level performance.
  • Proven ability to resolve highly complex, ambiguous technical problems spanning multiple process modules, products or technologies using structured root cause analysis, DOE, statistical methods and sound judgement.
  • Advanced capability in yield engineering, defect reduction, excursion management, process control, reliability analysis and predictive analytics to drive proactive integration decisions.
  • Strong organisational influence, with the credibility to align senior technical, manufacturing and operations stakeholders around integration strategy, priorities, risks and trade-offs.
  • Clear executive-level communicator who can simplify complex integration challenges, make sound recommendations and translate technical insight into practical business and manufacturing decisions.
  • Strong governance, quality and risk mindset, with disciplined attention to process controls, control plans, change management, specification adherence and customer impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to build organisational capability by mentoring senior engineers, developing technical standards and creating scalable knowledge-sharing practices.
  • Recognised technical leader who shapes direction beyond immediate deliverables and delivers sustained site, business or global manufacturing impact.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related engineering/science discipline, or equivalent relevant technical experience.
  • Typically 13+ years of progressive experience in semiconductor manufacturing, process integration, process development, technology transfer, yield engineering, manufacturing operations or a closely related advanced manufacturing environment; fewer years may be considered with a relevant master’s or doctorate degree.
  • Demonstrated track record of senior technical leadership, including shaping process integration direction, influencing senior stakeholders and delivering measurable improvements in yield, quality, reliability, cost, cycle time or technology ramp performance.
  • Practical experience leading cross-functional resolution of complex integration issues, applying advanced data-led problem solving and establishing sustainable control strategies that improve fab performance.
