Job summary

RED is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer in Dublin to design and optimize data centre power distribution. You will run load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and harmonic studies using ETAP (preferred) and related tools.

You will collaborate with design teams, respond to RFIs, and prepare technical reports detailing simulation results, recommendations, and project considerations. Experience with LV/MV and up to 132 kV is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Power Engineering.
• Experience in power systems engineering, preferably within the data centre industry.
• Working towards Chartered Eng status.
• Proficiency in ETAP (preferred), DigSilent or SKM.
• Experience with Load Flow, Short Circuit Analysis, Protection Coordination, Arc Flash, Harmonic Studies, and Underground/Aboveground Cable Sizing.
• Experience in LV and MV systems, ideally HV up to 132 kV.
• Strong knowledge of power systems control and SCADA systems.

Responsibilities

• Run computer simulations to optimize data centre power distribution.
• Support design teams and respond to RFIs.
• Coordinate protection systems and conduct arc flash studies.
• Perform MV/LV cable sizing, transformer/generator protection settings.
• Develop reports detailing simulation results and design considerations.
• Liaise with clients and attend meetings to communicate requirements.
• Conduct transient studies and harmonic assessments.
