Job summary

Astronomer is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. You’ll influence production infrastructure design, testing, and deployment for Astro, Observe and our IDE, helping global organizations orchestrate data pipelines at scale.

You’ll work across the company to set production standards, own testing and deployment in a high-scale PaaS environment, and help deliver reliable platforms with strong observability and SRE practices.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in non-abstract systems design and implementation.
• Proficient in Python and Golang with Kubernetes expertise (CKA or equivalent).
• Experience with observability principles and defining/tracking SLI/SLOs.
• Excellent communication skills for a globally distributed delivery team.
• A passion for reliability and reducing toil in production systems.
• Ability to scope work accurately and coordinate with stakeholders on risks.
• Experience with software development best practices: CI/CD, code reviews, testing, version control, automation.

Responsibilities

• Make high-quality, data-driven decisions on how we build this and the next generation of our production platform, then deliver the results.
• Own and build how we test, build and deploy code in a high-scale PaaS environment.
• Collaborate across the whole company on production systems design, standards, and product integration.
• Deliver results - change the wheels on the bus while it’s moving in a safe, reliable way.
