Job summary

McCutcheon Halley in Dublin seeks an experienced Senior Planning Consultant to own and lead projects across Ireland, from feasibility to decisions. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, advise clients, and drive successful planning outcomes.

You will combine strong planning expertise with commercial awareness, taking responsibility for delivery, budgets and client relationships, while mentoring junior staff and supporting business growth.

Qualifications

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning, preferably accredited by the IPI or RTPI.
• At least 5 years' relevant professional planning experience
• Corporate membership of IPI, chartered membership of RTPI, or equivalent standing
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Irish planning system, legislation, policy and procedures
• Experience managing planning projects and preparing high-quality planning applications, reports and submissions

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a portfolio of planning projects from feasibility through to applications, appeals and final decisions.
• Provide clear, strategic planning advice to clients, identifying development opportunities and consenting strategies.
• Lead the preparation and review of planning applications, planning statements, appeals, submissions and other documentation.
• Manage multidisciplinary project teams coordinating architects, engineers, environmental specialists and other consultants.
• Act as a key contact for clients and maintain strong professional relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
• Represent clients in meetings and consultations with planning authorities and statutory bodies.
• Identify and manage planning risks, develop practical solutions and provide commercially informed recommendations.
• Prepare fee proposals, manage project budgets and programmes, and oversee delivery and financial performance.
• Mentor and support junior colleagues and contribute to their development.
• Contribute to business development and growth of the Dublin office.
• Keep abreast of developments in planning legislation and policy to reflect the Irish planning system.
