Job summary

McCutcheon Halley Chartered Planning Consultants in Dublin is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Consultant to join our team. You will take ownership of significant planning projects, advise clients and lead multidisciplinary teams through complex processes across Ireland.

The role requires at least 5 years of relevant planning experience, a degree in Town Planning, and professional membership (IPI/RTPI).

Qualifications

• A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline, preferably accredited by the IPI or RTPI.
• At least 5 years' relevant professional planning experience, ideally in a consultancy.
• Corporate membership of the IPI, chartered membership of the RTPI, or equivalent standing, or progress towards membership.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Irish planning system, including legislation, policy and procedures.
• Experience managing planning projects and preparing high-quality applications, reports and submissions.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate effective planning strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a portfolio of planning projects from feasibility to applications and final decisions.
• Provide strategic planning advice to clients, identify opportunities and constraints, and devise consenting strategies.
• Lead preparation and review of planning applications, statements, appeals and submissions.
• Manage multidisciplinary project teams including architects, engineers and environmental specialists.
• Act as a key client contact, building strong relationships and advising throughout the project lifecycle.
• Represent clients in meetings with planning authorities and statutory bodies.
• Identify and manage planning risks and provide commercially informed recommendations.
• Prepare fee proposals, manage budgets and programmes, and oversee project delivery.
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to their development.
• Support business development and growth of the Dublin office.
• Keep abreast of planning legislation and policy developments to reflect the Irish system.
