Job summary

Bimplus is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join a well-established civil engineering contractor operating across Ireland, the UK and Europe. The role focuses on rail projects in Ireland, requiring strong planning and on-site experience with large-scale infrastructure programmes.

The successful candidate will develop construction programmes from first principles, produce tender and contract programmes, and support live projects with reporting, delay analysis and EOT submissions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years’ experience in planning within the construction industry.
• Civil engineering background with rail/infrastructure experience.
• Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project for complex programmes.
• Experience producing tender and contract programmes from first principles.
• Strong reporting narratives and delay analysis capability.

Responsibilities

• Produce tender, baseline and contract programmes using Primavera P6 and MS Project.
• Develop programme narratives, methodologies, phasing and critical paths.
• Monitor and update live project programmes, progress and forecasts.
• Support delay analysis, EOT submissions and compensation event assessments.
• Attend client and delivery team meetings and liaise with senior management.
• Assist estimating team when required.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner for a role with a well-established civil engineering contractor operating across Ireland, UK and Europe. Role will see the candidate working on rail projects across Ireland.

Ideal candidate would have a civil engineering background, preferably on site experience, and strong planning and P6 experience on large scale infrastructure or rail projects.

Overview:

The Senior Planner will be required to produce and develop construction programmes for the preconstruction team from first principles, management, and delivery of project programmes including supporting the estimating team when and if the planning requirement is low. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality tender programmes, contract programmes, estimates, and planning deliverables, while supporting live project teams with programme management, reporting, and change control.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce tender, baseline, and contract programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Develop programme narratives, methodologies, phasing plans, and critical path analyses.
• Monitor and update live project programmes, progress, and forecasts.
• Support delay analysis, extension of time (EOT) submissions, and compensation event assessments.
• Attend project meetings with clients, delivery teams, and senior management.
• Help support the estimating team when and if required.

Experience

• Minimum 6 year’s experience in planning, all within construction industry.
• Background in construction and or engineering.
• Strong experience using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Experience preparing and managing tender and construction programmes from 1st principles.
• Experience within Rail Infrastructure and Civil Engineering
• Experience within delay analysis/CE/EOT including mitigation programmes and reporting narratives
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
• Resource and cost-loaded programme experience.
